Unique ambience in Hallhuber’s new flagship store in Hamburg.

Schwitzke Design has creatively linked Hallhuber’s modern image, with a traditional building.

Since March, hallhuber has been present in Streit’s Court on Hamburg’s Poststraße with a 360m flagship store. Schwitzke & Partner design office from Dusseldorf was responsible for both the concept and the realisation.  They gave special attention to integrating the fabric of the old building into the design.  The sandstone facades were returned to their original expression through the modernisation.  Inside the two floor store elements of previous generations and modern design sit in harmony in the typical Hallhuber look.  Clear lines link extravagant plaster cornices, the black stained oak floor contrasts with the white back lit high gloss wall areas.

The second floor is reached by way of an elegant staircase with leather covered hand rail passing monochrome photographs of Palm Springs.  Daylight floods through the high front windows, feminine mauve curtains, soft carpets, warm lighting and crème with black covers give a unique atmosphere.  “Our design concept aims was to capture the singular historical atmosphere of the location.  That is why we retained many of the original features such as the box panelling with many other elements to create a harmonic picture that invites observer to muse” explains Karl Schwitzke.
