From old to new:

Hollister in Utrecht

Restructuring and shopfitting in a historical landmark

The American fashion chain Abercrombie & Fitch gives a strong performance with the presentation of its brand Hollister in the European retail scene: With the refurbishment and expansion of the store in the landmarked city palace “Fresenburg” on the old canal in Utrecht, we brought the Californian cult label’s West-coast-surfer-feeling to the Dutch old town. True to the Hollister concept of “making everything look vintage”, a great deal of detail work and handicraft were required from Schwitzke Project in the historic building. The wooden shelves look as if they have been weathered by years of saltwater and wind, the wooden flooring has gaping joints – the gap dimensions were prescribed by the client. The store’s highlights are without a doubt the strikingly designed steel staircase, the elaborately renovated wooden ceiling and the completely restored façade.
